The General Assembly of an association called VIEWS International which we, Association of Visually Impaired in Education, are also a member of was arranged this year at Athens, Greece on October 1st. Bahar Yavuz represented our association at the General Assembly.
Participants had the chance to meet each other by coming one day early to Athens and they left on October 2nd. The meeting was conducted at Education and Rehabilitation Center for Visually Impaired People’s (CERB) central hall. During the meeting, participants met with some CERB members and there was an information exchange about each country’s organisation. The children living there had the chance to know Erasmus+ and European Volunteer Service.
In behalf of board of management, VIEWS International chairman Michael Thornton from England, secretary general Anna Rita de Bonis from Italy, bookkeeper Boglárka Kollárszky from Hungary, Stavroula Kousteni from Greece and a member of board of management attended the General Assembly. Vice president Nikola Bakalov (Bulgaria) could not attend the meeting. Also, Turkey and Romania representatives from the member states were ready at the meeting. Apart from these, Anca David from executive office was there.
Activity and earnings report of 2015 and 2016 of board of management and temporary budget of 2017 were approved after discussion in the meeting that lasted a day. Although actual vice-president Nikola Bakalov was due to finish his
term of office at the end of 2016, he presented a new candidacy and
will therefore stay
with the board. Séverine Renard, who submitted her resignation, will be replaced.
Board of management member Anna Rita de Bonis said that General Assembly is very effective and suggested to follow VIEWS International website and other social networks for new actions in her statement on VIEWS website. Also, she expressed her appreciation for this beautiful organization to Stavroula Kousteni, Education and Rehabilitation Center for Visually Impaired People, the volunteers who supported them for three days, and Anca David from the Board of Management.
